If you'd like to find out about me please continue reading...
Kirsten Jane entered a competition in 1988/89. It was called 'A day in the life of the North West.' She decided to scout around Ormskirk market and at 11.30 a.m. found what she was looking for. A gentleman reading a newspaper at his handbag stall, Kirsten composed the picture and clicked . A few months later she received a phone call stating that she was one of the winners and that her photograph would be in the book. Soon after Kirsten thought she'd better tell the gentleman that he'd be in print, and he was. Kirsten also met Bob Smithies from Granada Reports alongside the other winners. Little did she know at the time but this was the beginning of her reportage skill. Being able to capture the moment without disturbing the subject.
Whilst primary school teaching, Kirsten captured the children in action in the classroom, outside on educational visits and on photographic field trips. To promote Fourgates C.P.School in Westhoughton, (now The Gates) her photographs were published in three of their school brochures. During this time she landed an unpaid Picture Editor job. It was a local magazine called 'Passions Magazine' It was sponsored by the Temple nightclub in Bolton. There were nine models, some make-up artists and hair dressers. The first shoot took place at the Dunkenalch Hotel in Blackburn, then we moved onto club Mondo. The second shoot was in the snowy blizzards of Preston market. From this she did another shoot for a flyer and a ticket for a night at Haigh Hall in Wigan called 'Mint'.
Kirsten Jane's four year BA (Hons) Degree in Art, Craft and Design aided her compositional eye which she feels cannot actually be taught. It is a gift which she's been told by numerous people that she possess. This gift or the 'eye' is what makes her photographs special. Kirsten looks at all subjects through artists eyes and therefore can steer away from your 'bog standard' traditional shots, especially on those extra special days such as your WEDDING DAY.
Kirsten Jane has previously worked at Cover Shots International in Manchester. It was here where I thoroughly enjoyed working within a team in a studio environment.
She has had many successful jobs, most as a natural Wedding Photographer and have been praised for my original and innovative ideas. Other jobs include photographing a Bolton rock band called Kinesis. One of the photographs from the shoot went on to their first promotional flyer.
She has an ever expanding portfolio for you to come and browse at her mum's house.
Kirsten Jane did advertise in 'The North Of England Weddings' The Complete Directory, until they stopped producing it. She has a real life wedding feature in the fourth issue called 'Teenage Sweethearts'.
